Subject: Carol Reetz Update 122307


It is Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 in the afternoon.  Sorry I didn't get an update out to you yesterday.

First, as a family we want to praise God for those of you he prompted to pray through the night, Friday night.  There was a purpose.  In a an update by the doctor on Saturday morning he related that Carol had come very close to leaving us.  Those prayers made all the difference in the world.  

Carol stabilized yesterday and is still holding steady.  She is still under heavy sedation and still has the breathing and feeding tube in place.  However, plans are underway to ease back on the sedation so that they can check her response to voice stimulation and commands.  They said this process can take some time so I can't tell you when to expect some word on that.

Her temperature is very close to normal.  Her heart rate/pulse is approaching the normal range and her blood pressure is in the normal range.  Praise God for all of these points.

Our concern now is whether or not there has been any damage done to her brain.

Prayer Concerns.

1.  God will heal her brain and her body with no residual effects.

2.  God will provide guidance for our daughters.  Carol was the care giver/child care provider for the three grandsons.  Both Wendy and Michelle are searching for child care for the boys.

3.  Because I am retired military, I have the military health care insurance.  Pray that it will cover all that is being done to treat Carol for this rather rare viral infection.

4.  I am working with my employer, Royal Caribbean for Family Leave.  I have been assured that it will be approved.  This will be unpaid time off.  Pray that the Lord will provide during this time.

Thank you to all of you for your wonderful words on encouragement and prayers.  Carol is a staunch prayer warrior and I too have a great love for our Father in Heaven.  I just ask that what ever happens that we give Him the praise for being in the midst of all that is happening.
