[Ofsrdc] Federation Procedural Issues

I thought it would be appropriate to send along some of the procedural
considerations that will need to be made in the Federation because of
Barbie's passing.

Jim Rogers now succeeds to the Federation presidency. He will hold this
post for 21 months -- the first 9 filling out the rest of Barbie's term,
and then another 12 as the normal second half of the job of 1st Vice
President.

That leaves the office of 1st Vice President vacant. Per the Federation's
by-laws, Jim will need to appoint someone to fill this empty post at the
January meeting, pending a majority vote of approval by the board. That
person will serve only the next 9 month.

Technically, Dennis Marsh's stint as Past President will end in the middle
of the September meeting, and that office will go vacant. Again, per the
by-laws, Jim will need to appoint someone to fill that office for the
2007-2008 year, pending board approval.

Jim will also now be responsible for the meeting agendas (with help from
Glory and myself). If you have agenda items for the January 28 meeting,
please send them ASAP to Jim Rogers at kayjim at opusnet.com, even if you
already submitted them to Barbie.

As a token of respect, I have listed Barbie on the Federation web site as
"President in Memoriam", although our P&Ps don't actually list any such
term. To my knowledge, this is the first time in the Federation's 50-year
history that we have had to deal with the passing of an elected board
member. May God help us to serve the square dancers of Oregon with
intelligence and sensitivity as we work through this.
