Subject: Please Help Square Dancing
Sorry for the spam HOWEVER.
Tuesday morning one of our Portland local radio stations (97.1 Charlie FM)
decided to run their entire morning program show as a talk against Square
Dancing. One of the DJ's son was being "made" to do square dancing in
school and they decided to spend the entire morning taking calls from
listeners on what strange things they were made to do in school. Turns out
the entire program ended up questioning why they would ever think of having
square dancing in school anymore. A couple people called and tried to say
how much fun the activity is, but they were basically made fun of.
We need to stand up for ourselves. I know that each of us at one time or
another has avoided mentioning that we square or round dance out of fear of
what people may think, but enough is enough. Please take a few minutes and
go to their sight or call them and let them know you are not happy about the
way they represented the activity you love. If we really want our activity
to continue we need to stand up for ourselves.
I almost NEVER forward chain emails or respond to mass requests to do
anything, but this is our activity. We NEVER get a fair shake in the media
and I for one am sick and tired of it.

or go to www.charliefm.com <http://www.charliefm.com/> and choose "Contact
Us" at the bottom of the page.
I will leave it to you what you want to say, but even "I LOVE SQUARE
DANCING", would be enough.
We need to stand up for ourselves as a group!!!!! No matter if we agree with
each other on anything else, we do agree that we love Square Dancing!
