[Ofsrdc] Voting

Part of yesterday's meeting brought to mind an item that I wanted to
talk about.

When we voted on the presidential succession motion, John asked for a
secret ballot; I believe his words were that he wanted people to feel
free to vote as they really felt. Now, any member is free to ask for a
show of hands or a secret ballot at any time, on any vote, without any
specific justification. However, I would hope that board members would
feel like they could vote on EVERY issue as their convictions or
councils direct, without worrying about whether feelings are going to be
hurt. This is business, after all. If we all agreed on every issue, we
wouldn't need to have meetings at all.

Overall, I thought yesterday's meeting went very smoothly. Several of
the votes did not go the way I, personally, would have preferred, but
that's they way things happen in a democracy. I'm still smiling, and I
hope you all are, too.
