>From the sound of this update, we did a good job in settling Carol down.  I'm proud of all of you for keeping her and Larry in your thoughts.  If there is anybody else we should add to our list, please let me know.  I do know of one person on the Mid-Winter committee who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer who will need our good thoughts also.  She is a long time square dancer and her family will need our prayers as she copes with the ugly disease.

Subject: Carol Reetz Update 01/03/08 P.M.


Thursday afternoon and I will do my best to bring you up to date since yesterday morning.  She had a restless afternoon, but she did manage to get about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  She did cough a lot yesterday probably more from her sore throat and some of the after effects of the breathing and feeding tube that she endured while in ICU.

I had a short meeting with Dr. Jensen, the neurologist.  She was very reassuring in many respects.  She shared that we are only at the tip of the iceberg with Carol.  The medical staff is watching very carefully as Carol fights through one event after another.  And we know that the hand of God and His angels are taking care of a lot of these things.  Dr. Jensen told me that we don't need to worry unless they - the medical team are worried.  Hang in there, take care of ourselves so that we can be there when Carol needs us.  From a medical standpoint Carol could be in the hospital several more weeks.  She didn't say 1, 2 or 3 or any specific number.  Then she may need to go to a nursing home/rehab center from here.  Keep this medical team in your prayers as well as they not only tend to Carol but to many other's who need their wisdom and knowledge.

Today Carol received a feeding tube inserted through the nasal area into the stomach.  This must have taken a lot out of her as she is resting very peacefully and has to be shaken to wake up.  No foods by mouth due to the loss of swallowing ability yesterday.  Our prayer is that this feeding tube is very temporary and her ability to swallow is quickly restored.

Her vital signs still look quite good.

Her IV's include Potassium Chloride and Acyclovir Sodium (for the infection).

No change in direction of your prayers.  Our prayer is that God will heal her body completely with no after effects.

May He also provide a special touch in each of your lives.
