Subject: Carol Reetz Update 031508


Good Evening One and All,

Carol has been home for just two weeks now and I am noticing some little improvements.  When she first arrived she relied heavily upon her walker to get around.  Now she only uses the walker when she is really, really tired.  She does have access to a cane when she needs it.

Carol has had appointments over the past 2 weeks with an occupational therapist, speech therapist, and a physical therapist.  In addition she meets each week with a registered nurse to review her progress and needs.  We also have a  social worker routinely checking on Carol.

Each of the therapists have Carol working on a variety of exercises to help her regain the skills of her past.  She tries very hard to carry on a routine conversation, but still has problems coming up with the correct word to express herself.   She does get frustrated at times.

During the day our younger daughter's mother in law stays at the house to provide companionship and aide to Carol.  Colleen also helps our daughter by providing care for the youngest grandchild James who at 9 months is a hand full as he is crawling a lot.

These two weeks have been a challenge for me and for my daughter and grandson who live here with us.  Our daily routine has changed as we learn more and more how to help Carol regain much of who she was.

I say all of this and want to remind you that we trust each day that God is in control.  He provides the strength that Carol needs and is the hope that each of us hold on to.  We are still praying and trusting for a full and complete healing through our Lord and Saviour.  Our faith and the many prayers of so many others has been the foundation that helps us each and every day.
