Dear Band Music Lover,
Mother's Day is coming and that means the Lake Oswego Millennium Concert
Band has a band concert coming as well. This year our concert is on
Saturday, Mother's Day Eve, which is May 12th, and you couldn't find a
better way to start Mom's celebration. As always, we have a good variety of
music to please many different musical interests. You will hear music from
Mozart to Sousa to Jan Van der Roost, a contemporary Belgian composer. You
will enjoy Bob Hope's favorite tunes when we perform, "A Salute To Bob
Hope". Our own clarinetist, Lea Anne Bantsari, will be our featured soloist
of the evening as she plays the Recitative and Polacca from Carl Maria Von
Weber's Second Clarinet Concerto. Song and Dance and Metroplex are two
contempory pieces that are real crowd pleasers. Balkanya by Jan Van der
Roost represents the high spirited music of the Balkan Countries, with
unique changes of tempo and spirit. Of course, we will have two marches -
one by Sousa, The White Rose, and another more contemporary march called the
U. S. S. Kennedy by Donald Stauffer. Ave Verum Corpus by Mozart and another
Sousa piece, With Pleasure, will add to the enjoyment and the musical
variety of the evening. Bayou Breakdown and the music of Percy Grainger in
Tune In A Popular London Style will round out the evening's music until we
get to a surprise number that will be our encore.
Bring the whole family and gather your friends for a wonderful evening of
band music on Saturday evening, May 12, 2007 and come to the Lakeridge High
School Auditorium. As always, there is no admission charge. The concert
begins at 7:30, but come early and listen to the Millennium Brass in the
lobby beginning at 6:45. Doors open at 6:30.
